Take time to visit

We are all just staying abroad for one semester and then we are going back to France. We are all young and  have lots of energy. So I think a good thing to do during our free time for example during the weekend is to visit other places than the one we are staying in.

When you go back to France everybody is going to ask you how was Germany Spain, or how England was so you will have to tell them what it looks like and not just what the parties were like.

From my point of view, I think the week end is the right moment for us to take time to visit .

Waterford is a small city and except the crystal factory there aren’t a lot of thing to visit but there are a lots of things around . I took the time to visit them .

Three weeks ago we went to Cork which is located on the South West coast of Ireland. It is the 2nd largest city in the Republic of Ireland. The city is situated on the banks of the river Lee, and home to 123,000 people. We spent all the day there so we had plenty of time to visit. We started by visiting cork city goal which is a jails historical located 2 km from Cork’s main

thoroughfare. Then we went to see UCC (University Cork College) which is located in the middle of a park. This university dates from the 19th century and looks beautiful.

We also went to Cork public museum, Cork vision center, and Shandon church where we climbed up to the summit to ring the bell. At the end of the day we walked around Patrick’s street to do some shopping. We didn’t have enough time but if you go there you can also visit cork butter museum, and Crawford art gallery. This city really is worth visiting .

On Sunday we all went to a hurling game because Waterford won the final so it was very important for all the people here. We watched it on the street with all the Irish people. Hurling is a strange game. It’s
an outdoor team sport of ancient Gaelic origin, and is played with sticks called hurleys and a ball called a sliotar. To undersatnd how it’s play you have to watch a game. It’s too hard to explain

Two weeks ago we rented some bikes and we went to Tramore. It is a seaside town in County Waterford on the southeast coast of Ireland. It took use 1h 30 to get there by bycycle. The town is situated on the north-western corner of Tramore Bay on a hill that slopes down to the strand, or sand spit, that divides the bay. Behind the spit lies the tidal lagoon known as the Cúl Trá (Back Strand). We really had  a great time there. It was a sunny day so we spent all the day lying on the beach and walking in the water.

Last week I went canoeing with Irish people. We met at school at 10 a.m and then we went to the kayak club to get the kayaks, the watersuit life jackets and so on. Then we drove the car for 45 minutes to get to the river. We warmed up and then we were ready to canoe for hours. It was a very nice day and I had so much fun even thougt I fell in the water.I met lots  new Irsh people there.

This week end we are going to
Kilkenny. It is situated on both banks of the River Nore, at the centre of County Kilkenny in the province of Leinster in the south-east of Ireland. Kilkenny is famous for its medieval buildings and castle . So I will tell you about it next time.
